ROBBER GIVEN EXTRA JAIL TIME FOR ABUSING JUDGE IN COURT ROOM

Liverpool Crown Court

A robber was jailed for a further six months after calling a judge a ‘k***head’ as he was handed an eight-year prison sentence and sent to the cells.
Stephen Mann, 21, was leaving the dock after being sentenced for two raids when he made the outburst - before Judge Andrew Hatton ordered he brought back before him.
The 49-year old judge told Mann he was in contempt of court and given an extra six months on his sentence - meaning he will now serve eight and a half years in prison.
The incident occurred at Liverpool Crown Court on Tuesday when drifter Mann was found guilty of a knifepoint robbery and burglary after a trial.
Police said on October 4 last year, he mugged a woman aged 72 as she walked along the street with her husband in Wigan, Greater Manchester.
He stooped low to grab her handbag as she passed then took it from her after dragging her to the ground. Mann grabbed the bag from her grasp as she lay injured and ran off. She suffered injuries to her arm, shoulder and chest.
Mann struck again at about 2.45pm on October 15, 2013, when he burst into R&W Gore newsagents in Hindley, Wigan, and threatened the owner at knifepoint and demanded cash.
But the shopkeeper refused to hand over any money and told Mann to leave. He then threw a wooden bat at him, hitting him in the back as he fled.

Mann was caught later after being spotted riding a bike at a high speed. He failed to stop for police and following a pursuit and assistance from the force helicopter he was tracked down in a local park

After his arrest he was seen rubbing his back and was found have injury consistent with his fight with the shopkeeper.
Initially he was given two concurrent sentences of seven years for two counts of robbery and a further 12 months to run consecutively for burglary.
