Liang Yaoyi, an eleven-year-old primary student from Shenzhen in China’s southern province of Guangdong, decided to donate his liver and kidneys before brain cancer took his young life. His wish came true on June 6 as his organs saved other lives within eight hours of his death. The nurses applied a thick covering of ointment to his eyes after Liang lost consciousness in the ICU and closed his eyes for the last time.
Following surgery in the operating theater, the doctor dressed Liang in his clothes. To his side were two incubators containing his kidneys and liver.The onslaught of brain cancer brought an end to his first dreams. If he had recovered from his illness, he wanted to be a doctor and cure other people. Before that, he had dreamt of being a successful businessman who would treat his mother with filial respect.
