MAJOR EARTH QUAKE HIT THE PACIFIC COAST



An earthquake occurred off the coast of Mexico. No damage reported immediately.

An earthquake of magnitude 6.2 struck on Saturday Pacific coast of Mexico, said the Institute of Geological Survey of the United States (USGS), which had initially reported a magnitude of 6.6.
The epicenter of the earthquake at 11 h 53 GMT (13 h 53 in France) was located approximately 300 kilometers southwest of the city of Puerto Vallarta, at a depth of 10 kilometers, according to the USGS.
There was no immediate information indicating damage caused by the earthquake and no tsunami warning was triggered following the secousse.Le Mexico is located on a point of contact between tectonic plates and five registered strong seismic activity. Earthquakes occur mostly off the Pacific coast.
