A Chinese tourist who was abducted by a group of armed men twomonths ago in a Malaysian resort has returned home after she was rescued late last week.
Gao Huayun arrived at Pudong Airport in east China's Shanghai on Flight MU540 of ChinaEastern Airlines on Monday, a source with the Shanghai Entry-Exit Inspection andQuarantine told Xinhua on Tuesday.
She was seized by armed men on April 2 together with a Filipino staff member of theSingamata Reef Resort in Sabah of Malaysia.
According to the Chinese embassy in Kuala Lumpur, Gao was freed and reached theMalaysian capital on Friday.
Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak said on Friday that there was no ransom paid tosecure the two victims' release. The success was instead achieved due to cooperationbetween the security forces of Malaysia and the Philippines.
